Sewer Video Inspection

Got a sewer problem and have no idea what it is or where to dig? A relatively low-cost video inspection just might help. In years past, dig points were much a matter of educated guesswork. Now, with sewer video cameras and locating equipment, it is a simple matter of calling Smooth Operator and locating the block.

What Is a Sewer Video Inspection?

Video cameras are one of the most valuable tools in our business. Specially designed waterproof cameras allow us to conduct a visual inspection of sewer lines and other underground pipes, including pipes under cement and under your home’s foundation.

To begin your sewer camera inspection, we insert a rod with a high-resolution video camera on its tip into your sewer lines. These high-tech drain cameras are flexible, allowing them to travel through twists and turns in sewer lines and thoroughly examine pipes.

The video footage is transmitted to us in real-time, so the condition inside your sewer and drain lines can be assessed immediately. You’ll be able to view any problems right on a monitor, and footage is saved for future reference.

Is It Necessary ?

While this would not be a frequent occurrence, but you might need a video inspection if you plan to add a bathroom or remodel your kitchen or a bathroom. Due to the greater quantities of wastewater involved, you may want to inspect your sewer line to make sure that it can handle the increased needs.

Most homeowners call in a sewer line video inspection only if there is a problem, such as a blockage that cannot be fixed by plunging, liquid drain cleaners, or sewer or drain augering.
